Rod Swift Clarifies on Bus Sighting

Rod Swift, a GLBTI activist who MCV reported as having thrown poly people under the bus, wrote in to MCV to clarify

I have a problem, and I hope that MCV will issue a correction. The problem is this line: "Melbourne-based GLBTI activist Rod Swift believes marriage should only be reserved for two people in a consensual relationship."

Actually, I never said that. I said that marriage is generally a law that deals with relationships of pairs... and that people make a choice by consent to enter into a relationship... and that choice is currently restricted to members of opposite sexes -- which is the heart of the argument over the bill to allow members of the same sex that same choice.

And, no, I don't believe in throwing people under the bus for an argument. I am right in criticising opponents of same-sex marriage for using 'slippery slope' arguments to try and oppose marriage equality.

Then please, Mr. Swift, respond to the bigots with “Every adult should have the right to love, sex, and marriage with any consenting adults.” Force them to defend their bigotry… because they can’t, and thus it will be exposed.

I only delete/reject/mark as spam: spam, vulgar or hateful attacks, repeated spouting of bigotry from the same person that does not add to the discussion, and the like. I will not reject comments based on disagreement, but if you don't think consenting adults should be free to love each other, then I do not consent to have you repeatedly spout hate on my blog without adding anything to the discourse.
