Scotland Still Prosecuting Consenting Adults For Sex

What century is this again? Somehow I missed this story until now. The Sun took a bigot’s approach to reporting about a consanguinamorous brother and sister.

A twisted brother and sister are facing jail after they were spotted having sex in a train station lift.

Twisted? Love is not twisted.

Richard Finlayson, 21, and sibling Kirsty, 18, romped in the elevator as they were filmed by CCTV cameras.

Just like so many other consenting adults. So what?

The shocking 15-minute clip showed them exiting the lift — only to return a short time later to have sex AGAIN.

Good for them, as long as they didn’t leave a mess. Jealous?

And as they left for a second time Richard gave Kirsty a £20 note.

What does that have to do with anything? Siblings loan money to each other all of the time, or they make bets.

The depraved pair were later arrested by police after a railway worker at Motherwell Station raised the alarm.

So, did they leave a mess or was the employee just jealous?

Last night a family friend said the revelations had left the pair's family "destroyed".

It didn’t have to. The family should be pointing out that it is ridiculous to call this a crime.

It came after Richard, of Carluke, Lanarkshire, and Kirsty of Lesmahagow, admitted having unlawful sexual intercourse in June last year.

Unlawful sexual intercourse. How is that possible between consenting adults? It shouldn’t be unlawful.

Sheriff Ray Small ordered Richard to be placed on the sex offenders' register. The brother and sister will be sentenced next month.

This doesn’t make sense. If one of them is being placed on the register, why not both? If mean, if Kristy is a victim, why was she prosecuted? The reality is, neither of them should have been prosecuted for consensual sex. Neither of them should be on the registry. They're not a threat to anyone. They are consenting adults. An adult should be free to share love, sex, residence, and marriage with ANY consenting adults.

Yes, we can say they should have been more careful, given the law. But that is the entire point of this blog. There should not be laws that criminalize or discriminate against anyone on the basis of their sexual orientation or the adults with whom they have sex.

  1. Them scots! V_V Aint got nothing better to do than hatin on peeps!
The only thing I think improper was the fact that they had sex in an elevator. They probably shouldn't have done that o.o and I'd say that for any couple xD
If there was "public indecency" than that would be the only thing I would consider it "okay" to charge em with...but I mean...they were in an elevator...not like they were in the middle of town square xD
If the sister agreed to it, how does that make him a sex offender? o.O???? It doesn't mean he goes after little girls, maybe he only has a thing for his sister. "oooh no...but thats'...just...not...POSSIBLE!!" *.0 *bigot's mind deflating*
People be jellin' cuz I'm sure the haters have a thing for their own sister. :x

  2. Sex in a lift? Can't they find a room?

  3. I just read the article and saw their pictures. It is no surprise that they are doing each other as no one else would want them.

(A response from a reader on the site)

    Two siblings at Motherwell Station
Used the lift to perform fornication.
    Their father found out
And he let out a shout,
"Her xBox is not your Playstation!"

  4. Anonymous, why would you say that "no one else would want them because of their picture?"
I hope we aren't judging beauty on looks here...

I'm gonna be clear that "NO ONE" is flawless. Regular pictures that you see in ads, t.vs, and photos that people are trying to promote have models that cover their face and do their hair and all that good stuff.

It's no one's place to say that nobody else would want them. A relationship to last isn't based on beauty...for beauty fades.

I certainly wouldn't say such a thing to someone and I hope no one would say such a thing to you either...

  5. Wow....I looked at some of the comments for myself actually.
Nubaruba said "Incest is just sick and wrong.. (unless the siblings are hot) ... so what these two did was just sick and wrong."
So yeah...that just proves my point. Apparently if you are beautiful than you get more leeway with everything...WOW. Can't love your brother unless you are hot! V_V

  6. Angelina Jolie and her brother weren't done for it. So yeah, if you're hot then you get to do it. If I were Angelina's brother I'd do her morning noon and night. Brad would have to wait his turn.

But I guess if you and your sister are chavs on your way to the off license to buy some stella, and you feel the urge and take advantage of a nearby lift, then you don't get to do it.

I feel bad for them, but the really should have known better than to do that in a lift. They've got cctvs everywhere now. It doesn't matter where you go, they've got someone watching you. They should have waited till they got back to their flat, or wherever it was that they could have some privacy.

I don't see nothing wrong with doing what they did cause they're grown people and they shouldn't be bothered for something that both of them wanted. But that doesn't mean they get to go do it just anywhere. There might have been children about and what then?

Now the public is going to have to pay for them to be sent up when all they had to do was wait till later.

  7. Thank you. Although it is how they got caught, the charges appear to be for the act, not where it was done.
