I really can't say for sure why any of you in particular found a specific kind of erotica appealing, but as I wrote above, porn or erotica (even just "regular" media) can reveal to someone what they already have a tendency to like.
It is also important to remember that not everything people like to view is something they want to do in their lives. For example, there are women who like to watch gay male porn, but they could never be in such a scenario. But talking about what they like to watch can open up discussions about what they might want to do.

He may believe that he has been careful to keep his daughters from finding out, but kids are smart and sneaky (of course yet same can be said of parents) and they may have seen or picked up on something you overlooked.
