Sometimes it is Voluntary

I offer a WARNING that there are POSSIBLE TRIGGERS in this posting.

Recently, Bob Marshall, a Virginia Republican currently running for the U.S. House of Representatives, made headlines by telling the Washington Times that sometimes incest is "voluntary." His comments were relating to abortion restrictions, and the exceptions for "rape, incest, and life of the mother."

Before I go any further, I want to make it very clear that this blog is NOT endorsing nor opposing any candidate or political party with this positing, nor is this blog about abortion laws, and I will not allow it to be turned into one in the comments. This blog is only about issues of relationship rights, including full marriage equality, and necessarily includes sexual orientation, gender equality, and gender identity rights as part of the focus. Eventually, every mainstream politician and major political party will support relationships rights for all adults, because parties and politicians who don't will be relegated to past. Politicians who realize this and want to be relevant will get on the right side of history sooner rather than later.

Marshall may or may not be an idiot. As the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice per day. I will leave judgments about most of his statements and record up to readers.

The statement that "sometimes incest is voluntary" is a true statement. (Again, I am not relating this, as Marshall did, to abortion restrictions.) We so often hear "rape and incest" when what is (or should be) meant is "rape, including rape by a family member." This is one of the reasons it is important to use the terms "consanguineous" or "consanguinamorous" when referring to consensual sex or relationships between close relatives or family members. There is a world of difference between consensual relationships and sex and abuse/assault/molestation/rape. People who assault should be locked up in a very bad place for a very long time. Consensual lovers should never be prosecuted nor denied their fundamental rights for loving each other.

To prevent spam, comments will have to be approved, so your comment may not appear for several hours. Feedback is welcome, including disagreement. I only delete/reject/mark as spam: spam, vulgar or hateful attacks, repeated spouting of bigotry from the same person that does not add to the discussion, and the like. I will not reject comments based on disagreement, but if you don't think consenting adults should be free to love each other, then I do not consent to have you repeatedly spout hate on my blog without adding anything to the discourse.

If you want to write to me privately, then either contact me on Facebook, email me at fullmarriageequality at protonmail dot com, or tell me in your comment that you do NOT want it published. Otherwise, anything you write here is fair game to be used in a subsequent entry. If you want to be anonymous, that is fine.

IT IS OK TO TALK ABOUT SEX IN YOUR COMMENTS, BUT PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR WORDS CAREFULLY AS I WANT THIS BLOG TO BE AS "SAFE FOR WORK" AS POSSIBLE. If your comment includes graphic descriptions of activity involving minors, it's not going to get published.
