Major feature films have been more or less hinting at incest as of late, too, if not outright establishing it is going on. Such was the case with "Shame" and the remake of "Conan the Barbarian." Now it looks like, from the reviews, we can add "Snow White and the Huntsman" to the list. Have you seen any of these movies? What did you think?. Scott Mendelson had a review I saw at Huffington Post.
Sam Spruell is somewhat engaging as the queen's loyal brother (he's the villain that actually engages in onscreen action as opposed to sitting in the castle), with his best moment being a blink-and-you-miss it moment that implies that his relationship with the queen may be incestuous. Most of the review tears the movie apart. Mendelson didn't like it.
These movies tend to tease at consanguinamory in an attempt to show how out of control or magically attractive characters are. But consanguinamory exists as a positive thing in the lives of normal people who live next door to you, and among the rich and powerful, and the relationships are not a sign of anyone lacking discipline. They are loving, healthy, and positive. Someday, our movies won't be afraid to show that.
media has an anti-consanguinamory problem.
