Another Inquiry About Mothers and Sons Having Children

Got another question on Tumblr the other day about mothers and son, particularly about when they have a baby. Here it is, along with my answer.

  1. age has nothing to do with birth defects.

    1. It isn't helpful to fight lies with falsehoods. Birth defects among children are more likely when the parent who gave birth is particularly old or young - but these are probabilities not certainties. A few years in either direction from the optimal age won't make a big difference. The actual optimal age for low birth defects is not certain, but it's though to be sometime mid-twenties to early thirties.
