National Sons Day

In the US, Wednesday, September 28 is National Sons Day.

Celebrate sons. All sons, regardless of sexual orientation or relationships.

Whether they are cis, trans, fluid, or whatever their identity, if they are sons, today is their day.

Are you a son?

Do you have a son?

Are you celebrating?

Do tell in the comments below.

  1. I am a son, I don't have a son, and I didn't know about this holiday... I think I should point it out to my mum and demand the right celebrations

  2. I've been a son. My (so-called) "mother" is years dead and gone. When she died, all I could think (and I told my friends this) was the opening lines of Albert Camus' most famous novel, "The Stranger": "Mama died today - or maybe it was yesterday. I don't remember any more." There was no real bonding between us because all her life, she had yet to deal honestly with herself - and gave lip service to admitting as much to me before she passed on. I was healed to a great extent by my (also-deceased) adoptive spiritual mother, who was truly a saint among the saints. Being disabled herself, she couldn't provide for me sexually as healthy mothers would - but she supported me sexually inwardly, letting me know she empathized with me profoundly and understood more than many people what it is for spiritually orphaned males to seek their long-lost mother - or a stand-in for her - in other women. That, of course, is a common search, and is one reason for the common bonding between "cougars" and younger men/boys. She also gave me much crucial spiritual and emotional support in other ways, helping restore my will to live. I'm posting this because if you're a son, and if for any reason you're struggling to find in other women the love all sons need from their moms, and too many of them haven't found it yet, please, for your own sake, NEVER give up the search! Continuing that search will inevitably make you wiser, stronger and a better person for having stuck it out for as long as you can! - and, of course, society doesn't punish spirituo-sexually orphaned young men for seeking stand-ins for their moms in other women, nor will society do so even if you find such a stand-in, in a woman you may not have known exists - and I promise you, they DO exist. NEVER despair that they do. Be your own best friend, and promise yourself you won't give up 'til you find her!
